Maggie's Bar in Halifax already offersed cocktails, cream teas, Italian coffees and light meals in an interesting atmosphere, but the venue management wanted to expand their diverse programme of events and set a new standard for clubbing and nightlife in the city when they contacted Neuron for our expert advice, having heard our systems and been recommended them by other venue owners and promoters in the area.
After carrying out our initial site visit, and seeing the low ceiling and wide dancefloor, we proposed a system centred on one of our favourite cabinets in the Void Acoustics range - the sleek, low profile Air Vantage. This coaxial horn-loaded speaker covers the entire venue with consistent, clear and impactful sound without the need for additional fill speakers. Finished in custom high gloss black, with a central red horn, the Vantage are suspended from the ceiling and backed by a huge custom, high-resolution LED screen, which creates a stunning visual effect with the ever-changing reflections on the speakers' outer casing.
The low end is rounded out by no less than four Stasys 218 dual 18" reflex sub enclosures, fixed under the stage to maintain dancefloor capacity.
Installation and tuning was able to be completed inside a 24 hour period thanks to careful pre-planning, prediction and drawings for staff to work from. Likewise, tuning was a breeze thanks to our fleet of custom tweaks and presets for all Void cabinets, built over the past 15 years of working intimately with the brand. It's safe to say the results far exceeded the expectations of everybody, and the club has found a new lease of life with the upgrades!
