Red Bull Culture Clash - Manchester Granada Studios

Following our work on previous Red Bull Culture Clash events in London, we were invited by the inimitable Manchester MC, DJ, producer and band collective known as Levelz to provide audio support for the local, regional heat of the now famous clash event.

Described as 'Wu-Tang Clan meets Happy Mondays' the 20-strong group carries a typical self-deprecative and referential charm, whilst drawing on influences from all walks of music to provide a proper party atmosphere.

Given the high impact nature of the tunes and hosts, we chose to provide our full, custom Void Acoustics Incubus Carbon system with an Air Motion setup as front fill for the 2,500 strong audience.

The competition however was very strong, both in terms of artists and competing systems – with drum and bass collective Made In MCR working on a full-size Martin Audio MLA array, the legendary A Guy Called Gerald operating through the very latest Funktion One EVO and F132 tuned by no less than designer Tony Andrews himself, and the underdogs Dub Smugglers deploying their own, hand-built bare wooden scoop system.

We received a huge number of compliments on the night, with many saying that our sound was by far the cleanest, clearest and heaviest, which along with their party ethic and small amount of winding up the other crews, meant that our team easily took home the trophy after being assessed purely by who drew the most crowd noise.
