In 2015, Neuron was drafted in to provide their industry expertise to the Extreme Sailing Series. The series annually covers 8 events across the globe including Oman, China, Singapore and Australia. The tour, now in its eleventh year is widely regarded as the world's premium sailing event of its kind.
The ESS race village caters for up to 2000 people per event. Neuron Engineers are responsible for the site-wide audio requirements, from the initial planning, production advancing and specifications, to the full installation and front of house running of the show. Along with providing feeds for the various broadcast requirements of the location. Depending on the itinerary for each event, this can vary between race briefings and commentary to full schedules of live performances for the attendees all amplified over the 3km race village. After a successful first year, Neuron is happy to be back on board for another 8 acts over 2016.
“The biggest challenge for me is working out how best to implement the existing touring equipment over the vastly different sites we visit throughout the series. I mixed the varying audio requirements of the different zones, made up of the Extreme VIP club, the race village, a spectator stand and various sponsor areas, all through one central location. iPad implementation and a solid site wide Wi-Fi network allow me to operate away from the mixing desk, while still having full control of my signals.”
